2024 Linz The Bookworm/ Logophile Reading Challenge

Hello, readers! It's that time of year when Tress and I release the upcoming Reading Challenge! I can't believe how much this little experiment has grown. I absolutely love seeing all the comments about joining in and what prompts they enjoyed.

For those new to the Linz the Bookworm/Logophile reading challenge, it is reasonably customizable. We've broken it into five tears of 12 books for 60 books. We try to make each tier a little harder. You do not have to complete it all or complete it in order. Tress is very methodical and plots the books she will read for most of the year. I go at it with a sense of chaos and hope for the best. We have a lot of readers who complete it all, some who just opt for a tier or two. If there's a prompt you are against for whatever reason, then feel free to substitute it with something you're more comfortable with. The idea is to have fun and challenge yourself when reading.

For those of you on Storygraph, Tress has put the challenge up on the app. You can find it here.

If you'd like a PDF version, you can find it here

If you'd like to follow Tress's blog, you can do so here.

If you'd like to see previous challenge posts, they are all on the discussion tab. I'll post my end-of-year update next week sometime. In addition, if you've done the challenges for previous years, please let me know some of your favorite prompts. I would love to have a list of reader favorites for future challenges!

  1. I’m signing up, I think I’ll take a scattered approach but with the aim of completing all of the prompts.
BTW, I took the liberty of creating a badge for your challenge cause I like to have an image. Feel free to either request I don’t use it, or adopt it as your own (no credit required). Here’s my challenge tracking page https://bookdout.wordpress.com/challenges/2024-linz-the-bookworm-logophile-reading-challenge/

    1. Hey thanks! That's super cute. Feel free to use it. I usually make one, but I was lazy this year.

  2. Love that you are doing this challenge again! I wasn't able to finish any levels last year, but I was close on all of them. It really pushes me to try new books!

    1. We'll definitely continue it as long as we can and have interest. Do you have a favorite prompt? I want to try and get a list going of Reader's favorite prompts - from any year.

  3. I'm going to try it again this year. Last one I wasn't able to find any Mary Faulkner book, but I got two books which I was reluctant to try with very good results with the prompts of author named David/Dave and an author of my Home state.

    1. Yeah, that's our fault. We realized later on that her books aren't actually in circulation anymore. We posted some alternate prompts once we realized our mistake. Sorry it caused you to not finish the challenge. :(
